The i Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe is one of the best known of Teguise in Lanzarote. This church dates from the XV century, in the beginning it was a simple temple that did not have windows and with a few seats that were stones attached to the walls of the construction.

Since its creation the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Teguise has suffered numerous looting, some fire and at some time almost demolished due to the invasions that They took place in Lanzarote.

Until the 18th century the parish did not have three naves, but again in 1909 it caught fire and was destroyed again, this time through the contributions of the inhabitants of Teguise was rebuilt again.

Several years later in 1914 she was blessed by the Angel Marquina Corrales Bishop and reopened. After this last work, another prism was added to the tower, after this performance it became the highest architectural element of Lanzarote.

Inside you can find very interesting elements made of granite, such as the holy water piles, the baptismal font itself, the pulpit and part of the temple choir, these made by Juan Hernández Pérez, local artist. It is worth noting the altarpieces and the pulley-speaker of the pulpit created by Eugenio Bañasco.

2. Casa de los Arroyo

The Casa de los Arroyo is one of the icons of Arrecife. A building that dates from the XVIII century and that originally belonged to the Armas family and later to the Arroyo family. It is especially striking that the type of architecture with popular and domestic dyes, currently the Casa de los Arroyo is the headquarters of the Blas Cabrera Scientific-Cultural Center.

The importance of the Casa de los Arroyo has led it to be declared a historical-artistic monument, the roof of the Arab tile building must be removed, something unusual in the constructions of the archipelago.

The Casa de los Arroyo was used as a customs office in times when the capital Arrecife was not the urban center that it is today and it was only a port of entry and exit to the island whose capital then was Teguise.

Following the architecture of the house, it has a sober style where the patio, balconies and wooden stairs stand out. The building also usually hosts artistic exhibitions, which is why it sometimes becomes the nerve center of the capital of Lanzarote.

3. Convento de Santo Domingo

Another of the convents that we can find in the town of Teguise in Lanzarote is the Convent Santo Domingo de Teguise. The only Convent that existed for half a century on the island of Lanzarote was the Order of The Franciscans of Miraflores which today is Museum of Sacred Art With the passing of time, other religious centers were created, including Convent of San Domingo de Teguise, built thanks to the efforts of Gaspar Rodríguez Carrasco, although it was born in Tenerife its commercial activity was carried out in Lanzarote.

In 1692 he sought permission to create a hospital with a church and liturgical service under the congregation of San Juan de Dios, in 1698 he gave some houses to install the hospital, but finally it was not done .

The insistence of Carrasco did not end here and early eighteenth century from a church already built the previous century. The convent presents a facade of double composition, on the door on the right in red ridge, the symbols of the Dominican Order.

In its interior there are two naves separated by four arches of half a point of stone and red and black stonework. One can speak of the golden altarpiece of Indian influence of one of its altars. Today is a Contemporary Art Gallery.

In Tinajo one of the most important temples that can be visited is the Ermita de los Dolores, whose construction is linked to the volcanic phenomena that occurred in the area. from the year 1730 to 1736. The inhabitants of Tinajo made a promise to the Virgin and after remitting the eruptions erected this temple in gratitude.

It is estimated that the construction of the hermitage began in 1774 when, according to legend, a virgin appeared to the shepherd Juana Rafaela on the slopes of the caldera Guiguan so the cult was opened between 1781 and 1785.

The hermitage is formed by a single nave, its architectural style corresponds to the guidelines presented by the insular temples. On the right side you can see the sacristy and that for years served to give shelter to people who came to the temple on a pilgrimage. It should be noted that for the construction materials used environment, mainly volcanic stone both in the door or the oculus in addition to the side buttresses. The surroundings of the hermitage is the place where the festivities are celebrated in honor of the Virgen de los Dolores.

6. Faro de Pechiguera

An interesting and picturesque place is the lighthouse of Punta Pechiguera, a lighthouse that is located in the municipality of Yaiza, in the southern part of the island Lanzarote and which serves as a guide for boats passing through the strait of La Bocayna, which is a maritime passage that separates the islands from Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

The characteristics of the Faro Pechiguera have the following characteristics: it is of 4º order of fixed white light, it was inaugurated in 1866. It is a building of rectangular plant and is divided in three parts by On one side we find the house of the lighthouse keepers, on the other hand we have the tower and finally the lighthouse has the store.

With regard to the exterior of the building, it has arched windows framed in stonework, and also highlights the ashlar ornaments finished on the cornice of the lighthouse. The same building acts as a shoe to withstand the pushes of the cylindrical tower of basaltic ashlar, being crowned by the machinery of the lamp that emits the light. A lantern raised about 15.6 meters above sea level and 9.5 from its point where it is anchored in the rock.

The old lighthouse was declared Good of Cultural Interest (BIC) by the Government of the Canary Islands on December 20, 2002.

8. Molino de José María Gil

In San Bartolomé there is one of the most important mills in the whole area, it is known as Molino de José María Gil. The mill is one of the oldest in Lanzarote and is classified as Good of Cultural Interest, thanks to the good conservation of it.

The mill was built in 1870, in the first part of the 20th century, in 1919 it was acquired by José María Gil. The Mill consists of a circular tower built in mud, stone and lime, the interior is distributed on three floors. The first of the plants was dedicated to the storage of tools and grain, the second plant left ground the gofio or flour and the last of the plants that is where the grain was overturned before being ground.

In 1920 the mill was closed and replaced by a system that worked with diesel. It should be noted that the Molino de José María Gil had as a curiosity a wooden door through which the facilities were accessed whose lock was formed by wooden pieces without hardware that opened with a unique key made in the same material. El Molino is today one of the symbols of San Bartolomé and a must-see.
