Mogan is part of the Barranco de Arguineguín, this place name means, according to some sources Aguas Calientes, also gives name to the beach, the tip of the creek, pond, basin and county of Arguineguín.
It has dimensions exceeding 3,300 hectares and is a wide basin excavated in the western half of Gran Canaria away from the direct influence of recent volcanism.
Along the ravine it is possible to find tabular basalts, bordered by outcrop of ignimbritic mantles that extend towards the head and the mouth.
The Arguineguín ravine is an area rich in plant endenism, you can find dragon trees, the leñanoé, woody shrub, lady Parolinia Ornata and the Margaza. Vegetation is dominated by a tabaibal-cardonal in the lower area, junipers and palm groves in the middle and Canarian pine that dominate the higher areas.
With respect to the fauna it is possible to find three types of reptiles, lizard, smooth and peninquen, you can also see several types of birds such as calandrias, Moorish birds or common estrilda. The part of Arguineguín that belongs to Mogán stands out more as a fishing center
