About Charco de los Clicos
The Charco de los Clicos is one of the most picturesque places that can be found in Lanzarote, also known by the name of Charco Verde for its striking color, it is located in the Volcanoes Natural Park in the middle of Timanfaya National Park, in the town of El Golfo is within the municipality of Yaiza.
From the name of Charco de los Clicos due to the seafood that used to be in the area and that were edible, currently extinct.
The Clicos has that greenish hue so striking that it makes it stand out from the volcanic landscape of all the blacks and ochres around it due to a type of seaweed that lives in the waters , joined to the sulfur that contains the water.
Around the pond you can find an elevation of the land that corresponds to a crater whose last eruption dates from the eighteenth century, just in front there is a beach of black sand where it is possible to see deposited olivine.
The Charco de los Clicos or Charco Verde has dimensions of 100 meters, the sea connects with it through cracks found in the subsoil. In the northern part of the pond there is a viewpoint from where you can see the whole area of the pool and the beach.
