About Charco del Pino

Charco del Pino is a small population center that belongs to Granadilla de Abona, before having this name, this point was called Chiñama , a Guanche word that comes from the mountain of the same name that dominates the place.

Charco del Pino is located more than 700 meters above sea level in the middle of Montaña de Chiñama about 3 kilometers from the center of Granadilla de Abona , is divided between Charco del Pino, Los Llanos and Montaña Gorda.

According to historians, the neighborhood was inhabited since Guanche times, and they have even found archaeological remains that prove it in the part of the mountain. The village emerged in the sixteenth century during the colonization as payment of the place to Chasna.

In 1690 the hermitage of San Luis king of France was built by the brothers Luis, Ana and Isabel García del Castillo.
