About Convento de Nuestra Señora de la Merced
In Buenavista there are vestiges of the old Convent of Our Lady of Mercy, at present only the main wall of the convent is conserved, its surroundings harbor the cemetery of the location.
In the southern part of Buenavista del Norte there are several buildings of great heritage value, among which the remains of the Franciscan convent of Our Lady of Mercy, founded in 1648 and demolished two centuries later converted into a cemetery soon after. Of the remains that remain we must highlight the cover of stonework, which is flanked by columns that are supported on columns that rest on a plinth with carved rosette.
The shafts of the convent can be seen in a zig-zag decoration and topped by a piece of entablature. The cover is crowned with a triangular pediment that still conserves the emblem of the order in its superior vertex.
