About Ermita de San José de Los Llanos
San Jose de los Llanos is a small population nucleus that belongs to the municipality of El Tanque in the northern part of the island. San José de los Llanos has points with an altitude of more than 1000 meters above sea level and is about 13 kilometers from El Tanque.
Among the places of interest in the area is the Hermitage of San José de Los Llanos, built in XVIII in a semi-isolated place but with a magnificent natural beauty.
The Hermitage of San José de Los Llanos was totally abandoned until in 1980 it was completely rebuilt. They took advantage of part of its masonry walls, as well as the steeple of two holes and the stone arch.
It is worth noting that the church has an interior patio, a somewhat strange element in this type of temple. The roof of the hermitage is made of Arabic tiles with four sides.
