About Iglesia de San Antonio de Padua
In Granadilla de Abona is the Parish of San Antonio de Padua, which was built in 1617. This temple that is preserved today is not the original site that in 1645 it was demolished and rebuilt, this in turn suffered a fire so it had to be rebuilt but already in 1711, serving as its foundations to build the church that can currently be visited.
The Church of San Antonio de Padua is considered Good of Cultural Interest as much for the wealth of the construction itself as for the treasures that are kept inside it . Among the elements of greater value is the goldsmith and cult objects, for example a Diadem of Gold of San Antonio, a silver lamp of typical Canarian goldsmithing that dates from 1617, also the procedural cross of 1691 , spokesman of silver of 1702, a silver shell that is in the baptistery of 1710 and the great candlesticks of 1713.
The temple is composed by a single ship of Latin cross, the cover is the typical one that is usually seen in other churches on the island. On the ceilings highlights the Moorish style and the altarpieces, carvings and images that are part of the Canarian school.
