About Liceo de Taoro
Liceo de Taoro is a society, located in a historic downtown building in La Orotava, which promotes art and culture, as well as sports and leisure in the town itself.
It was located in 1999 in what was the urban palace of the Ascanio, an eclectic-looking building whose colors and shapes stand out in the central setting in which it is located, facing the Plaza de la Constitución and next to Victoria Gardens, in the historic center of the city.
Since its construction in the sixteenth century was the home of the historic family of the Grimón and it was inhabited, among others, Tomás de Nava y Grimón, Marqués de Villanueva, founded the Botanical Garden of La Orotava. In the year 1866 the family sold it to Alonso Ascanio Bazán and Molina, mayor of La Orotava, this family, the Ascanio family, who kept it until it was sold to its current owner in 1999.
