About Museo de Cetáceos (Cerrado)

In Puerto Calero, in the town of Yaiza in Lanzarote is located the Cetceos Museum. The objective of this place is to promote the conservation and information of the natural heritage of the marine depths of the Canary archipelago.

In Spain, the Cetceos Museum is a pioneer, it is the first museum in this area, dedicated exclusively to cetaceans. It is also possible to find information not only about cetaceans but also information about oceanic species.

The protagonists throughout the museum are the species that inhabit the deep sea of the Canary Islands.

The museum is divided into four perfectly different rooms that are dedicated to different collections, you can also see an audiovisual room on the premises, with a specialized shop.

The first of the rooms is dedicated especially to marine mammals and their evolution. In the second of the rooms it offers information about life on the seabed, continuing with the third of the rooms of the Museum of the Cetceos reviews the 27 species that researchers have found in the Canarian bottoms. Finally, the fourth of the rooms shows the conservation problems that affect cetaceans, as the hand of man is destroying the seabed.
