Parque de la Puerta de Tierra

In what is now the center of Garachico is the Parque de la Puerta de Tierra. An attractive green area with beautiful gardens that invite you to rest and enjoy a quiet time.

At first glance it may turn out to be another park, but it should be noted that a few years ago this was the gateway to the old port of Garachico, a port that was destroyed by a volcanic eruption . Currently in the Parque de la Puerta de Tierra still remains what was said door.

Besides being able to see the old door of what was the most important port of Tenerife it is possible to admire an old winery that was located in the Hacienda de San Juan Degollado and in another part of the park there is a small corner in which the great Cádiz writer Rafael Alberti is honored who visited the municipality in 1991.

The old port was destroyed in 1706 After the aforementioned eruption of the volcano, through the door that was conserved, all the goods and people arriving or departing to Garachico had to pass.
