Located in the Adeje Massif is the great Roque de Conde, very close to the coast and with an altitude of 1001 meters above sea level. It is the biggest rock in the Canary Islands. This rock was mentioned in the sixteenth century with the name La Fortaleza, among the peasants was known by the name guanche Ahío or Hio, until the mid-nineteenth century was already known with the name of Roque de Hío.
After a climb of about 2.5 kilometers the Roque del Conde is located in the protected space Special Natural Reserve of Barranco del Infierno. There is an overwhelming view of the entire coast of Adeje, Arona, San Miguel, Granadilla de Abona, a part of Guia de Isora and Santiago del Teide.
Walking the trails that run through the area is a fantastic way to get to know this beautiful natural environment.
