About Salinas de Fuencaliente
In the southern part of the island of La Palma and declared a site of scientific interest as a resting place for many migratory birds, there is the Salinas de Fuentecaliente. One of the points of reference of the island and that greater visits it receives due to the contrasts that can be observed in this point, the black sand, the white salt and the blue of the sea enhance the beauty of the salinas. The colors that mix in the salt pans and in all its surroundings make this point of La Palma a must-visit place.
Because Las Salinas de Fuentecaliente is a place of passage for many birds, it is a protected area, such as patinel plover or even flamingos. It has a size of 7 hectares, since 1987 it has been included within the Natural Park of Cumbre Vieja and Teneguia and at the same time within the Natural Monument of Los Volcanes de Teneguía.
We must also highlight the flora found in the environment, for example sea lettuce, white salty, niagrera, the simpreviva of the sea, marine thyme or even the cabezón and cerraja. In the surroundings you can also see the lighthouse and the coquettish beach of La Zamora.
