About Sitio Etnológico Molino Quemado
The Molino Quemado ethnological site, also known by the name of Windmill of Vient or simply, is located in the neighborhood of the same name of Mogán. This mill is located just 500 meters from the core of Mogán in an enclave about 200 meters above sea level. It is a windmill that was dedicated to grinding cereals to obtain flour, it is formed by two overlapping cylinders, with a base of masonry of 12 meters in diameter and 1.5 of average height and the body of the building of 6.1 meters of outside diameter and 4.5 inside with 7 meters high. With this design the maximum use of wind action is achieved.
The Molino Quemado is a cylindrical construction with masonry with lime and sand mortar, with two floors, conical roofing of wooden beams and covered with brass.
The mill was built during the 19th century and later burned down completely by a fire provoked by a shepherd in revenge for the municipal power. The lack of preservation caused the mill to be degraded until the end of the 90s was restored, after the intervention the mill became a symbol of Mogán.
