10. Cueva de Don Justo
Caves

La Cueva de Don Justo is located in the southern part of the island, some writings qualify it as "the mysterious cave". This cave is located in a lava river and has been the subject of numerous studies by expert volcanologists.

The cave is a volcanic tube that lies between the Hiramas Mountain and the fishing village of l a Restringa, very close to the Montaña de los Muertos and no more than 100 meters from the road between the Pinar and the Restringa.

These volcanic tubes have more than 6 kilometers and there are crosses and superpositions of tubes inside the same cave. According to experts these tubes denote that they were originated by a prolonged eruption and together with other elements gave rise to an authentic labyrinth of galleries of difficult access and where it is not difficult to get lost.
The only entrance accesses the upper part of the cave, has a length of 1,360 meters and a height of 135 meters and ends near the coast line.

Due to the exceptional conditions of its formation, the labyrinthine distribution of the cave gives rise to about 6,500 meters of galleries.

La Cueva de Don Justo is the third in length in the Canary Islands, after La Cueva del Viento in Tenerife and the Cueva de Los Verdes in Lanzarote.

Access is currently restricted to protect the endemic species located inside.
