1. Mirador de la Peña

Located in Guarazoca, very close to the capital of El Hierro, Valverde, is the Mirador de la Peña, specifically at the eastern end of the Risco de Tibaje. This place is essential to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the whole island.

From El Mirador de la Peña you can have a perfect panorama of the El Gofio valley and see with perspective the brutal landslide that you made millions of years ago way to this part of the island. It is possible to see the enormous dentellada of 15 kilometers wide and between 500 and 700 meters high that to make it more beautiful is covered with lush native vegetation.

At the foot there is a huge volcanic plain with vines and fruit trees that ends where the Atlantic Ocean begins to hit the coast of El Hierro. From the Mirador de la Peña it is also possible to see the virgins Roques de Salmoruno from the places where one of the symbols of the island is found, giant lizards They are only found in El Hierro. The building of the viewpoint is an architectural jewel designed by the Canarian architect Cesar Manrique at the beginning of the 80s.

The famous artist was characterized for creating organic spaces, specifically in the Mirador de la Peña, Manrique, used numerous floors, large windows and masonry ceilings to create a fresh and welcoming atmosphere. The gardens around the building were also designed by the architect and as he usually does in his works he took great care that the entire complex was perfectly integrated into the environment.

The viewpoint itself is also a restaurant where the best of the cuisine of El Hierro is offered, without a doubt one of the most recommended points in the area. In the first decade of 2000 the viewpoint was declared Asset of Cultural Interest.

2. Mirador de Las Playas

Located in the municipality of Valverde is the Mirador de las Playas, one of the most spectacular on the island of Hierro. A perfect place to enjoy one of the most incredible views of this minor island of the Canarian archipelago. 3. Mirador de Jinama

The Mirador de Jinama is located in the western part of San Andrés in El Hierro, is one of the balconies more privileged to enjoy one of the most incredible views of those that can be admired on the island. From the Jinama viewpoint you can see the Gulf Valley in all its splendor as well as a curious different perspective because the volcanic aridity of La Peña that can be given to the more than 1200 meters in which it is located.

To get to the viewpoint it is necessary to follow the path of Jinama, one of the oldest of El Hierro and that goes as far as The Border. The Mirador de Tanajara offers a wonderful view of the Mar de Las Calmas and the hillside of El Julán and that is topped in the South part by the volcanoes of La Restinga. You could see the strength of the volcanic riff and riff that is culminated in the La Restinga with more than 200 volcanic cones. From this point it was possible to see the volcanic eruptions that were recorded between 2011 and 2012 on the seabed of the hamlet of La Restinga. What also makes this place very special are the spectacular sunsets when the sun sets over the horizon of the sea.

In this part of the island El Pinar there is an area that is dedicated to the cultivation of vines to make the most famous wine of El Hierro, it is Tanajara . The wineries of the same name follow the winemaking tradition that the British farmer John Hill back in the sixteenth century. Tanajara is located in the western region of El Hierro, what makes this part of the island special are the special and unique orographic conditions, steep slopes and volcanic soils at 600 meters above the level of the sea. To these unique elements of the area we must add the special micro-climate that will give the Vijariego Negro and Baboso Negro grape varieties the touch that will make the wine that will be produced special.

It is possible to visit the area and see the situation of the vineyards as well as tasting the fabulous wines that produce this part of the island year after year. Until a few years ago the wines were produced and bottled in the same island, but it has been moved to another island in the Canary archipelago to give greater renown to the production. The wines that are produced have Denominación de Origen de El Hierro.
