Upload photosAbout Balneario de Berrazales
In the 1930s it was built in the Valle de Agaete, in the area of Los Berrazales known as Balneario Los Berrazales which was also a bottling plant known as Agua de Agaete. Both places benefited from the healing properties of the iron-rich waters coming from the heights of the island of Gran Canaria.
The Spa became a reference site for patients arriving from many points of Europe who did not fear the journey first by plane, then by car and finally on a donkey until we reach the facilities. The Balneario Los Berrazales was opened in 1931 and initially had no rooms so patients had to spend the night in nearby caves.
One day the water stopped coming down from the summits, being obliged to close both the spa and the water bottling plant.
Today the abandoned building remains where the word spa can still be read on its façade and the date of its start-up.
