Separated by the lava flows that emerged from the Caldera de Gaíria flowing towards the central depression are the Calderas de Liria and the Caldera de La Laguna and form part of the so-called Malpaís.
The caldera of Liria was formed 100,000 years ago after the eruption of the two Volcanoes in the Central Valley Majonero. The landscape offered by this part of Malpais that is within the municipality of Tuinaje will transport visitors to another planet. It has a great landscape value and in the area nesting guirres or Egyptian vultures, with respect to the flora is dominated by the scrub.
It is struggling to conserve the Caldera de Liria, because in the last decades it has undergone an important extraction of materials.
The hiking routes that pass through both the Caldera de Liria and La Laguna are highly recommended, in order to admire this rugged area.
