The town of Mazo in La Palma has an interesting place to visit, the Pottery Mill. It is an ethnographic group that highlights the windmill, considered the best preserved of the island being also a model that has been exclusive to La Palma. It receives the name of Sistema Ortega, which was the one that invented the mechanism used in this mill, there are only about 10 different scattered around the island, in Breña Alta, Garafía, Puntagorda and Puntallana.
At present, the old mill is part of a Ceramic Workshop where reproductions of pieces of Benahoarite ceramics are worked. It is possible to visit the interior of the mill, take a tour and know what was the operation of this mill.
It is possible to see how the clay works the ceramic artisans and see how they make the pieces of the Benahoarite ceramics. It is also possible to visit an interesting garden of native flora that is in the surroundings of the building.
Until the El Molino Pottery can be reached via the LP-2 South Road between Mazo and Fuencaliente.
