Conjunto Histórico de Casas Altas

About Conjunto Histórico de Casas Altas

One of the most curious places that can be found in the town of Vilaflor in Tenerife is the Historical High Houses. This place is between the municipal districts of Vilaflor and Arona, specifically on a hillock comprising the ravines of Chija in the western part and the Barranco del Rio or Fuente in the eastern part, about 770 meters above sea level.

The Historical Set of Tall Houses in Vilaflor is a hamlet in which you can see the typical Tenerife architecture typical in the southern part of the island. In it you can see tools and elements that formerly used by peasants in their daily lives as sewers, tanks, tanks, ovens, cobbled roads, terraces, caves and many others. The importance of the Conjunto de Casas Altas is very interesting, so much so that the Government of the Canary Islands declared it in 2004 as Bien de Interes Culture.

It is believed that the set is one of the first enclaves of the payment of Jama whose antiquity goes back to several centuries ago, it is even mentioned in the land repartimientos of Adelantado Alonso Fernández de Lugo
El Caserío is formed by two old houses of peasants that are integrated by several buildings that served for different uses such as residential, warehouse, block etc.
