Vilaflor

The church of San Pedro Apóstol is a Catholic temple located in the municipality of Vilaflor de Chasna, on the island of Tenerife -Canarias, Spain-. It is the main parish of the municipality and the historic district of Abona.

In Vilaflor is one of the most spectacular trees that can be found throughout the Canary archipelago, is known as Pino Gordo. This tree is a specimen of Canarian pine that according to the experts can have between 700 and 800 years, a height of more than 45 meters and a diameter that exceeds 9 meters. The base has 3 bolts together and they form the Pino Gordo and after the Millenary Drago which is in Icod de los Vinos is the most famous and visited Tree of Tenerife.

Ifonche is one of the most important protected areas of the Island of Tenerife. This place, known by the name of Protected Landscape of Ifonche, is located in the southern part of Tenerife where you can find natural elements such as volcanic and anthropic cones such as scattered farmhouses and some crops. This natural area is within the municipal area of Adeje and Vilaflor and has dimensions that exceed 774 hectares. In Ifonche you can find a wide variety of elements, including Roque de Imoque, Heather or the nearby escarpments of Barranco del Infierno. It is also important to talk about the vegetation that can be found throughout the place, among which stands out the pine forest and the populations of marigold, Calendula Arvensis, which are typical of fallow crops. There is also a variety of fauna, such as endemic butterflies and birds that nest in the area. The Landscape of Ifonche also offers other charms, as elements of great ernographic value such as constructions linked to the rural world: traditional stone houses, ditches or water channels, galleries, terraces or a pretérita era of stone where the cereals were threshed to obtain the grain.

One of the most curious places that can be found in the town of Vilaflor in Tenerife is the Historical High Houses. This place is between the municipal districts of Vilaflor and Arona, specifically on a hillock comprising the ravines of Chija in the western part and the Barranco del Rio or Fuente in the eastern part, about 770 meters above sea level. The Historical Set of Tall Houses in Vilaflor is a hamlet in which you can see the typical Tenerife architecture typical in the southern part of the island. Calvary also plays a leading role on the other days, Friday Santos, at dawn the procession of the meeting takes place, from Calvary, the Christ on the Cross starts with the Virgen de Dolores and San Juan. This place has been known since 1620 but the chapel was built in 1915.

The Parish of Santiago Apóstol is located in the municipality of Vilaflor of Chasta in the Plaza de La Escalona. It is a church of simple construction, with a nave and where the image of Santiago Apóstol is the most important element that houses. The Church of Santiago Apóstol was founded thanks to the effort and tenacity put by the "escaloneros", hence the plaza where it is located is dedicated to them. . The church opened was inaugurated in 1985.
