About Ermita de El Calvario
The hermitage of El Calvario is located in the town of San Miguel de Abona, this small temple dates from the 19th century and since the construction was built it is part of the Via Crucis which takes place during Holy Week and which started from the church of San Miguel Arcángel and reached the hermitage.
The first thing that draws attention to this small religious building has the characteristics of other religious temples in the area and for its style it is believed that the construction was carried out by the same author of the Calvario de Granadilla of Abona.
In the exterior of the small temple run two stone bands topped by florets and two spaces on each side of the nave that are topped by two columns of less size. Meanwhile the facade of the Calvary offers a pediment with a smooth tympanum crowned by a cross.
