About Hacienda de San Clemente
The San Clemente Hacienda was once a magnificent hacienda where Alonso de Nava y Grimón made his first experiments with the flora he had imported from his trips to America. In addition, the farm also welcomed sick people when Santa Úrsula lived its worst economic times.
At present the property is divided into three large properties. The main house was the summer residence of the marqueesese of Villanueva del Prado, the facade gives a good account of it since there is the shield of the Marchioness. This part has two floors, a roof with side terraced bodies and a central patio.
There are two buildings plus one of them had rooms on the top floor and the ground floor was used as a warehouse.
In the Hacienda de San Clemente mainly vines were grown, but part of it was given to María Vergara Grimón, which also took advantage of the cereals aside of new strains of vines.
The hacienda is located in the agricultural part of Malpaís in the same municipality of Santa Úrsula and is part of the Historical heritage of the municipality.
