Iglesia Matriz de Nuestra Señora de la Concepción

In the center of the town center of Agaete is the Church of the Conception, also called Mother Church of Our Lady of the Conception or simply Church of Agaete. From the Plaza de la Constitución you can see how the facade of this temple with its white walls and ocher-colored details prevails. The monument dates from 1874, was built with the aim of replacing the first building of the temple that was completely destroyed by a fire.

What stands out from the Church of Our Lady of the Concepción are its dimensions and the eclectic character with a facade in three streets. The interior of the temple is divided into three naves of which the central one is the widest and is where the windows that illuminate the choir are located.

Among the artistic works that are inside are the image of San José, made of wood and built in Barcelona in 1901, also an image of San Antonio de Padua and another one from San Juan Bautista.
