About La Gordejuela
La Gordejuela is an old water lift, a hydraulic pumping station that is currently in ruins, but it is still a picturesque place, which is the end of a cliff and whose function was to use the waters that were born in Gordejuela to move the flour mill and raise them to the highest areas to irrigate the plantain crops that stretched through the Valle de la Orotava<.
This industrial style building was built at the beginning of the 20th century, in 1903 by the Hamilton house. Even today the situation of the building impresses, at the time of construction it was a milestone for the island, for the orography and for hosting the first steam engine on the island of Tenerife.
