About Molinos de Bellido

The Molinos de Bellido are located on the island of La Palma in the municipality of Santa Cruz de La Palma. This set consists of four water mills that were erected in two stages, the first was during the seventeenth century and the second during the nineteenth century. Los Molinos de Bellido is part of the "Ruta del Agua", very close to the urban center of Santa Cruz de La Palma.

It is a perfect place to start an interesting hiking route, although you have to overcome a considerable gap, it is well worth it to enjoy a fantastic place, quiet and with a lot of history. The Molinos de Bellido are named after the former captain and councilor of the La Palma chapter Juan Wandewalle de Cervellon who used the second surname of his grandmother, María Cervellón Bellid. The Mills were built at different heights next to the canal that supplied water to the city, the goal was to grind the grain and make flour. There were 13 mills in the shape of a tower, some were built in wood but in the 19th century they began to use mortar.

Two of them were built in 1865 and 1872 and are known as M olino del Cajetero and M olino de Hernández-Fierro. The two oldest ones were built by Juan Vandewalle de Cervellón-Bellid during the first half of the 17th century.
