About Museo de Historia y Antropología de Tenerife - Casa Lercaro
The Museum of History and Anthropology known by its acronym MHA, is located in the Casa Lercaro in the city of San Cristóbal de la Laguna, municipality declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1999.
The building dates back to the end of the 16th century, when a family of merchants who came to the island from Genoa after the conquest began construction, this family were the Lercaro.
The Museum of History and Anthropology was inaugurated in 1993, the objective of the opening of this museum is to spread the historical evolution of the island of Tenerife. The museum offers a vision of the development that the island has had in the institutional, social, economic and cultural between the fifteenth and twentieth centuries.
In the museum numerous activities are carried out, research, conservation, dissemination of funds and collections of the history of the island are carried out. The programming of activities that takes place in the MHA is very broad, they are both cultural and didactic activities.
The Museum has a vocation to be a point for historical memory and reflection on contemporary culture, to study the past and lay the foundations for both the present and the future of the Island.
