About Parque Natural de Cumbre Vieja

The Cumbre Vieja Natural Park occupies a good part of the south of the island of La Palma, within the municipalities of the two Breas, the Alta and the Baja, Mazo, El Paso and Fuencaliente.

It was declared a Natural Park in June 1987, although at that time it was separated from the natural area of national interest of Coladas del Volcn de Martn. However, both were united in a single Natural Area, officially, in December of the year 94.

This park encompasses a good part of the volcanic cones in the south of the island so that there is even a A path that crosses it almost in its entirety and is known as the "Route of the Volcanoes" from which there are impressive views that cover all of La Palma and even the nearest Canary Islands.

There are several eruptions suffered in its history, although one of the most important is the one that occurred in September 2021, which has led to great personal and ecological losses.
