About Porís de Abona

Poris de Abona is a small coastal town that is part of the town hall of Villa de Arico. It is a town of marine tradition, is the result of an extensive natural bay that has been used for decades as a refuge for boats. In the nineteenth century began to lay the foundations for its demographic future, basing its economy on commercial and fishing activity.

In the first half of the 20th century the dock began to be built, converting it into a cabotage and stopover port, being an important commercial point. Due to the important commercial activity there is also an interesting tourist boom.

Currently Poris de Abona has retained that charm of past eras, its quiet streets, full of peace, with traditional customs and uses make the town a wonderful and worthy place to discover. They have some small beaches and little influx and diving is an essential activity to learn about the rich seabed.

Poris is also formed with small nuclei such as Eras Bajas, Los Abriguitos or Punta de Abona. In the Punta de Abona you can see the hermitage of Our Lady of Merceces, the Faro de Punta de Abona or the beaches of Playa Grande among others.
