About Puerto de las Nieves
Puerto de las Nieves is a small fishing village belonging to Agaete located on the north coast of Gran Canarias. This small fishing center offers the atmosphere and character of the Canarian idiosyncrasy, this is joined by the charming black sand beach that invites you to rest and disconnect.
One of the most popular places in the fishing village is the Paseo de los Poetas, an avenue with restaurants, small craft shops and galleries. From Puerto de las Nieves it is possible to see the island of Tenerife with its imposing Teide, all this together with the contrast of the crystalline waters of its beach and the impressive rocky landscape that surrounds it.
It is worth mentioning the Ermita de las Nieves, located in the main square of the town whose 16th-century triptych, depicting both the Virgin and the Child, was painted by the flamenco artist Joos Van Cleve.
One of the best known elements of the Puerto de las Nieves and today disappeared was the so-called Finger of God, a pinnacle of basalt rock between 20 and 30 meters that was located in front of the cliffs that surround the port and that the tropical storm Delta destroyed in 2005.
