Located on a valley formed as a result of an ancient volcanic eruption, Güimar has a Special Natural Reserve, Malpaís de Güimar, formed by a
cone in its municipal area. volcanic and the areas where lava rivers flowed to the sea centuries ago. In the upper part of the term is the capital of the Güimar municipality, near the Ethnological Park Pirámides de Güimar, consisting of 6 stepped pyramids that are oriented astronomically and that are of uncertain origin, or at least, not demonstrated convincingly.
The most touristic and animated part of the municipality is at the coastal level where the popular "Puertito" is, with a pleasant walk by the sea, a small fishing port and many places where to taste the rich Canarian gastronomy.
