The Villa de Arico located on the island of Tenerife is also known as El Lomo. This small town has about 630 inhabitants and borders on Las Cañadas del Teide, Arico Viejo, Los Gavilanes and Arico Nuevo, Poris de Abona and La Cistera.
The name of Arico comes from the term "aricar" which means to plow very superficially, this gives good sample of the agricultural past of this part of Tenerife, although also, other experts affirm that it is a term brought from Guanche.
Arico receives the title of village from the hand of the king Alfonso XIII thanks to the economic boom that the population nucleus had at the beginning of the 20th century.
Arico began to be built in 1590, until 1610 it does not have the hermitage of San Juan Bautista, many houses are built around the temple, which is today the historic center of the municipality , one of the most beautiful claims for visitors.
