In Adeje is located one of the most beautiful natural environments of this part of the island, it is the Adeje Massif and the Reserva Especial Especial Barranco From Hell, these points are both an area of geomorphological interest but also botanical and faunal.

In the Adeje Massif there is a point where you can see a waterfall that springs from Roque Abinque, you can also see hanging dragon trees on cliffs and other elements of great ecological value.

The Adeje Massif is located at the southern end of the island of Tenerife and where the highest point is the Roque del Conde with an altitude of about 1001 meters above sea level. According to the experts the Adeje Massif has the denomination of Old Relief, since that occurs when the fragmentation of the structure is important and the relevance on the surrounding terrain is not enough.

The part of the Adeje Massif is the oldest area of the island, rocks that can date back more than 11 million years and are linked to the south wall of the Cañadas del Teide.

2. Monumento Natural de la Caldera del Rey

In Adeje you will find the Natural Monument of La Caldera del Rey, an environment with an area that exceeds 180 hectares. This boiler is one of the examples of freatomagmático-explosivo Tenerife volcanism, the wide extension of this caldera will impress all visitors, it is also totally cultivated by plants of banana trees.

According to the experts the formation took place due to the contact between the volcanic magma that emanated with the water, this provoked intense explosions by the expulsion of gases.

Today in the area you can find remains of caves that the inhabitants used as shelter or housing, is currently inhabited by few families.

With regard to the La Caldera del Rey fleet, we must highlight the tabaibas, the most abundant spices and ornamental plants, there are also interesting birds such as the kestrel trumpeter bullfinch.

Located in the Adeje Massif is the great Roque de Conde, very close to the coast and with an altitude of 1001 meters above sea level. It is the biggest rock in the Canary Islands. This rock was mentioned in the sixteenth century with the name La Fortaleza, among the peasants was known by the name guanche Ahío or Hio, until the mid-nineteenth century was already known with the name of Roque de Hío.

After a climb of about 2.5 kilometers the Roque del Conde is located in the protected space Special Natural Reserve of Barranco del Infierno. There is an overwhelming view of the entire coast of Adeje, Arona, San Miguel, Granadilla de Abona, a part of Guia de Isora and Santiago del Teide.

Walking the trails that run through the area is a fantastic way to get to know this beautiful natural environment.

5. Reserva Natural Especial del Barranco del Infierno

The Natural Reserve of Barranco del infierno is located in Adeje, a natural environment so rich and important that only 300 daily visits are allowed in order to preserve the environment and avoid interfering in the development of both flora and fauna.

The Special Natural Reserve of the Ravine of Hell is about 350 meters above sea level, starts from a natural balcony that has supreme views of landscape with the municipality of Adeje to the bottom, with a variety of flora and fauna very interesting, some of them endemic to the island of Tenerife, in the ravine of Hell have found unique species.

The protected area of the Barranco of Hell goes from the Corona Forestal Natural Park in the note part, to the northeast with the Protected Landscape of Ifonche. One of the most outstanding permanent water courses of Tenerife is located in this ravine and it is worth noting the waterfall that can be visited in the area and that was a lot more time ago and that erosion has been digging in the rock.
