In the municipality of San Miguel de Abona we can find the Natural Monument of the Yellow Mountain, a place of great ecological value and protected and that is in the part south of the island. Among the elements that first call the attention is the yellowish color of its lands and its surprising forms, fruit of the capricious volcanic eruptions accompanied by explosions and the entry into contact of the magma with the sea that occurred on the island centuries ago.

The landscape of the Montaña Amarilla is imposing and in it a set of perfectly aligned volcanoes stand out. This elevation was created from marine eruptions and it is possible to see a mobile dune that perhaps is what attracts the most attention.

Despite what may seem in the Montaña Amarilla you can see an interesting variety of flora and fauna in which stand out the sweet, very abundant tabaibas, the almost extinct pineapples of sea or sea lettuces that was once used by sailors as food. It is also possible to see kestrels and warblers.

3. Macizo de Adeje

In Adeje is located one of the most beautiful natural environments of this part of the island, it is the Adeje Massif and the Reserva Especial Especial Barranco From Hell, these points are both an area of geomorphological interest but also botanical and faunal.

In the Adeje Massif there is a point where you can see a waterfall that springs from Roque Abinque, you can also see hanging dragon trees on cliffs and other elements of great ecological value.

The Adeje Massif is located at the southern end of the island of Tenerife and where the highest point is the Roque del Conde with an altitude of about 1001 meters above sea level. According to the experts the Adeje Massif has the denomination of Old Relief, since that occurs when the fragmentation of the structure is important and the relevance on the surrounding terrain is not enough.

The part of the Adeje Massif is the oldest area of the island, rocks that can date back more than 11 million years and are linked to the south wall of the Cañadas del Teide.

4. Bosque del Adelantado

The Bosque del Adelantado is a small redoubt of laurisilva located very close to the historic center of La Esperanza, capital of the municipality of El Rosario (Canarias, Spain). This green area covers an area of 25,397 m² and reaches an altitude between 850 and 875 meters above sea level. The vast majority of the monteverde of this municipality was cleared to use the land for agricultural purposes, to increase the grazing area or to establish population settlements. This fragment of forest is part of a stretch of ravine that has managed to conserve itself, as it was used by the residents of the area to stock up on firewood and wood. Between 1994 and 1998 the City Council of El Rosario (with the collaboration of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the European Social Fund) carried out various actions that allowed this space will recover. It is located between the old building of the town hall of the municipality and the parish of the town, serving as a link between the upper and lower part of La Esperanza.

In Adeje you will find the Natural Monument of La Caldera del Rey, an environment with an area that exceeds 180 hectares. This boiler is one of the examples of freatomagmático-explosivo Tenerife volcanism, the wide extension of this caldera will impress all visitors, it is also totally cultivated by plants of banana trees.

According to the experts the formation took place due to the contact between the volcanic magma that emanated with the water, this provoked intense explosions by the expulsion of gases.

Today in the area you can find remains of caves that the inhabitants used as shelter or housing, is currently inhabited by few families.

6. Drago de San Francisco

In Los Realejos you will find some of the Dragos more beautiful than you can find in the Canary archipelago. 8. Pino Gordo

In Vilaflor is one of the most spectacular trees that can be found throughout the Canary archipelago, is known as Pino Gordo. This tree is a specimen of Canarian pine that according to the experts can have between 700 and 800 years, a height of more than 45 meters and a diameter that exceeds 9 meters.

The base has 3 bolts together and they form the Pino Gordo and after the Millenary Drago which is in Icod de los Vinos is the most famous and visited Tree of Tenerife.

The Special Natural Reserve of Malpaís de la Rasca is a protected area of 315.4 hectares located in the municipality of Arona on the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain). The area under protection houses outstanding habitat of cardonal-tabaibal coastal and interior, as well as different communities of flora and fauna associated. The landscape and the geomorphological structure of all the badlands and the adjacent cones are of interest.
