2. Zona Paleontológica Playa del Bunker-El Guincho

The El Guincho Paleontological Zone is located on the beach of Bunker in the beach area of the Americas in Arona, on the island from Tenerie. The importance of the site has made it declared B of Interest Culture with the category of Paleontological Zone.

The paleontological site is a deposit of the quaternary, in it you can find mollusks typical of tropical areas that were formed in a warmer time than the current one about 100,000 years ago during the last interglacial

Geologically speaking, the marine deposit is situated in the Upper Pleistocene, corresponding to the Neoterrinian-Holocene.

The site has two paleontological levels, in the lower one you can see abundant remains of Patella conadei, along with other gastropods like Thais Haemastoma, encompassed in the calcareous matrix. In the upper level cemented by calcareous algae, in which you can see testimonies of warm fauna.

The paleontological zone Playa del Bunker-El Guincho is formed by a stretch of low coast formed by a raised beach of very cemented ridges and sand. Above them, some remains of a fossil dune system that occupies the upper part of the formation appear sporadically. A place that keeps a lot of information about the formation of the island.

The Special Natural Reserve of Malpaís de la Rasca is a protected area of 315.4 hectares located in the municipality of Arona on the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain). The landscape and the geomorphological structure of all the badlands and the adjacent cones are of interest.

The Montaña de Guaza Natural Monument is a protected area located in the municipality of Arona, south of the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain). Declared Natural Area of National Interest in 1987, in 1994 it was reclassified as a Natural Monument. The protected zone comprises 725.7 ha, being constituted fundamentally by the Montaña de Guaza, one of the most representative exogenous volcanic domes of the island and by the lava flows derived from its eruption, it limits to the west with the tourist resort of Los Cristianos, to the east with the town of Guaza and the urbanization the Palm-Mar, to the north with the road that joins Los Cristianos with Guaza and to the south with the sea. In this place pre-Hispanic remains have been found in the form of caves, remains of ancient cabins and burials. It has been discovered that the antiquity of this natural monument is a maximum of 3.5 million years and a minimum of 0.67 million years.

Arona is a municipality belonging to the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the island of Tenerife -Canarias, Spain-.
