1. Viejo Faro de Fuencaliente
Lighthouses

The Old Fuencaliente Lighthouse is located at the southern tip of the island of La Palma, in the municipality of Fuencaliente Natural Park of Cumbre Vieja and very close to this old lighthouse is another one of new construction and the famous Salinas de Fuencaliente, the beaches of the Faro de Fuencaliente strong> the one from Echentive and the old Santa Source.

The Old Fuencaliente Lighthouse was built at the beginning of the 20th century and due to volcanic eruptions that took place in the area in the 70s.

The old Faro de Fuencaliente was restored in 2006 and rebuilt with the intention of making it a public space, currently hosts the Interpretation Center of the Isla Marina Reserve of La Palma and that I could be visited.

The New Fuencaliente Lighthouse is next to the old one, which was destroyed after the eruption of a volcano. The lighthouse is located in the Natural Park of Cumbre Vieja, in the southern area of the island of La Palma, near this lighthouse is also the Salinas of Fuencaliente and the beach of the same name.

The Old lighthouse that has received several renovations to what is currently known is home to two museums, on the one hand the Interpretation Center of the Marine Reserve of the Island of La Palma and the Museo del Mar.

In this part of the island you can enjoy spectacular sunsets and the landscape that surrounds both the new and the old lighthouse is well worth a visit.

3. Roque Teneguia

In the southern part of the island of La Palma the Roque Teneguía is located, on the southwestern slope of the San Antonio volcano belongs to the municipality of Fuencaliente.

The Roque de Teneguía has a height of 400 meters above sea level and is known as one of the most important geological formations of the municipality. One of the most important elements that has the Roque de Teneguía are the Auarite rock engravings that is located in the area. These vestiges give a good account of the interesting history that surrounds not only the Fuencaliente area, but the entire island of La Palma. It can also observe petroglyphs, (symbolic designs that have been engraved on the surface layer of the rock) spiral or labyrinth and serpentine lines that some experts attribute to the action of water.

In addition to this prehistoric element, the Roque de Teneguía is also interesting and has a certain botanical importance, here the Cabezuela or Cetaurea Junonia.

El Roque is a very old phonolite structure about 600,000 years old and has a characteristic pale yellow color. It is curious that you can see remains of the last eruption that took place in 1971.
