In the west of the Island of La Gomera you will find Mirador del Santo in the middle of nature, specifically the area is known as Natural Monument del Lomo del Carretón and is in the town of Arure. From this viewpoint the view is simply spectacular, you can see a volcanic landscape that dominates the entire space and highlights green areas that contrast with the dark earth. They also highlight the palm trees scattered throughout the ravine and in the background the blue of the immense ocean.

The viewpoint has a series of footbridges that make it more comfortable to access and that lead to the Hermitage of El Santo that is in the vicinity. It must be reached on foot, since it does not have access to vehicles, so it becomes a placid place without a hustle and bustle of cars.

Also from there you can see the village of Taguluche spread all over the slope of the ravine of the same name. The ocher colors of its surroundings also highlight the beauty of the place, it is undoubtedly a perfect place to relax and admire the horizon.

4. Iglesia de San Antonio

In Valle Gran Rey you will find one of the most important temples of La Gomera, the Parish of San Antonio de Padúa. This church is commanding the Valle Alto and although the construction is recent it is one of the symbols of this part of the island. The parish is a humble and modest building was built in 1966 and since then has welcomed all those who came to know this place of faith and worship in honor of San Antonio de Pádua.

The reason for choosing San Antonio is due to disputes over getting water to irrigate the land. More than 70 years ago a severe drought hit the island, after some disputes between neighbors of several areas of the island, a community of irrigators was formed that coincided with the celebration of San Antonio de Pádua, It was decided to erect the parish that today is known with the image of the saint in the same place where the meetings were held.

The temple was made from the contributions that the neighbors made throughout the island and in 1951 the works were finished, the following year the first party was celebrated in honor of San Antonio
