1. Molino de Gofio del Risco de las Pencas

In San Juan de la Rambla you can find one of the most outstanding, most interesting and most representative monuments of the history of the island, it is the Molino de Gofio del Risco de las Pencas, also known by the names of Molino de Ruiz, Molino de la Grieta or Molino de Pico de the Crack. This mill was a hydraulic installation that was used to grind gofio and is located on the left side of the ravine Ruiz, in the municipality of San Juan of the Rambla.

Adjacent to the Mill is the La Vera district and a large natural rock of cylindrical shape known as Roque del Molino or Risco de las Pencas that gets its name from the many branches that populate it. The good conservation of the Mill helped him to be declared in 2007 Asset of Cultural Interest with category of Ethnological Center. The building is formed by two buildings with walls of tuff blocks in reddish tone and masonry. The main construction houses the machine that served for grinding, with a four-sided roof. A series of performances has restored the mill to turn it into an attractive tourist attraction.

Places of Worship

In the center of San Juan de la Rambla is the church of San Juan Bautista, a rather unique building dating from the first half of the 16th century.

Like many of the temples that can be seen on the island, its construction was carried out little by little over a period of about 50 years, these extensions were carried out depending on both the needs and the the possibilities of the parishioners. The growth of the church of San Juan Bautista has gone hand in hand with the growth of the population, perhaps the most delicate moment was lived in 1797 when the temple had to be completely rebuilt after the passage of a devastating hurricane

The church of San Juan Bautista is made up of two naves of one floor, the main nave wider, with a presbytery and rectangular collateral chapels.

With regard to the roof it is of Mudejar style, with knuckle in the main nave, with double braces and laceria ornaments. In the old nave you can see the chapels of Rosario and Misericordia that still have their own coffered ceiling, with masonry walls and doors and windows with stone moldings. The façade is topped with stone arches right at the entrance.

This part of the population was declared Asset of Cultural Interest in 2008 and consists of around a fortnight of constructions that are the maximum exponent of traditional Canarian architecture. Specifically, the buildings that are in the neighborhood have the characteristic patterns of rural architecture in the north of the island of Tenerife.

Some of the buildings are also finished off at the corners with stone blocks, to provide greater stability to the structure.
