La Matanza de Acentejo

One of the oldest religious temples on the island of Tenerife is La Matanza de Acentejo is the Hermitage of San Antonio Abad . El Parque Natural el Montillo, en el término municipal de La Matanza (Tenerife) es un espacio de esparcimiento de más de 57.000 metros cuadrados, que cuenta con diferentes zonas de recreo natural, y vías de senderos y caminos donde andar o correr. Cuenta con un centro de interpretación, con un lago central, un anfiteatro donde se programan eventos, circuito deportivo, parque canino y zonas de vegetación exótica. Ideal como parque infantil, es una de las mejores zonas de recreo del norte de la isla de Tenerife.

Ya forma parte de la vida cotidiana de los habitantes de la Matanza de Acentejo, una construcción raquítica, sin paredes, cuya estructura es eso mismo, lo más parecido a un esqueleto. El Esqueleto de la Matanza está situado en la zona conocida con el nombre de Puntillo del Sol, es uno de los lugares del municipios con vistas impresionantes y desde donde se puede divisar hasta la isla de La Palma.El Esqueleto está prácticamente oculto en un barranco a las espaldas de varios edificios altos. Un lugar un tanto polémico por ocultar a los residentes unas imponentes vistas del mar y que piden desde hace años su derribo, pero ahí sigue. Fue un proyecto de hotel que se hizo en los 70 y que no se llegó a terminar situado en un paraje protegido, recibe el nombre de Paisaje Protegido de Costa Acentejo, dos edificaciones de 15 plantas en estado de ruina.

Lugar acogedor y tranquilo. Comida casera y buena carne a la brasa los fines de semana

Es el típico guachinche, situado en los bajos de la casa, con paredes y techos sin encalar. Allí se reparten las siete u ocho mesas de la que dispone el comedor. En un rincón, un espacio que ocupa la pequeña barra con la cocina. En la pizarra, los platos que ofrecen. Aunque no son muchos (como buen guachinche), abarcan un poco de todo, suficiente para acompañar al vino que anuncian de su cosecha. No tiene carne a la brasa.
